Frequently Asked Questions
What happens at a Bible Study?
We typically begin with some announcements, and then a designated speaker will teach on a passage or passages
from the Bible, explaining their relevance to our lives. Following that, we have some fun activities like food, games,
watching a movie, or simply hanging out.
What do I have to bring to Bible Study?
Please bring a Bible if you have one. If you don’t, Bibles are provided. Bring writing equipment if you would like to
take notes.
Do I have to be a Christian to attend Acts 2?
No. Acts 2 merely meets to study the Bible and make friends. You don’t have to be a Christian, or even necessarily
agree with the Bible study. Many students just come to learn about what the Bible says, and to investigate
whether the Bible is true, and whether it holds the answers to the big questions in life.
Do I have to be Asian to attend Acts 2?
No. Although most of our members are Asian-American, everyone is more than welcome to attend.
I am a Christian. Does Acts 2 offer any discipleship or leadership training?
Yes, for example, we offer personal John in-depth Bible studies, Survival Kit discipleship training, and MasterLife.
Just come to Bible study and let us know your interest. Most of all, we learn to be disciples of Christ by sharing
our lives together, encouraging and praying for one another, trusting and obeying God, and experiencing his
amazing faithfulness in our lives every day!
I am a non-Christian interested in finding out about Christianity. What should I do?
Just come and find out about Christianity from our Bible studies and from knowing and talking with Christians
in our group. We also offer courses covering the basics of Christian beliefs, answering the tough questions
about Christianity, and addressing common objections to Christianity, if you’re interested. Religious belief is
a matter of personal choice and there is absolutely no pressure at Acts 2 to “convert” to Christianity.
What differentiates Baptists from other Christians?
In our opinion, nothing. Baptist is just one of the major Christian denominations in the world today.
What activities do you have besides Bible study?
In the last year, we had BBQ, various sports, indoor games, outdoor games, potluck, movie night, laser tag,
bonfire at Santa Cruz, skiing/snowboarding … they were a lot of fun! Some of these events are held together
with Acts 2 at UC Santa Cruz and Stanford. This year, we expect to have the same activities and more.
Suggestions are welcome :)
Who teaches the Bible Studies?
The staff of Acts 2 usually leads the Bible studies. Often, good speakers from local churches are also invited
to speak.
Will there be food provided at the weekly Bible studies?
Yes. We often have very delicious food during our fellowship time.
